“We
never read that God has been reconciled. God does the work of reconciliation in
or through Christ, and especially through His death. He was engaged, in Christ, in reconciling the world — or rather,
nothing less than a world — to Himself (2 Corinthians
5:19).” (p. 144).
“It is the good tidings of the Gospel, with which the evangelists go forth, that God has wrought in Christ a work of reconciliation which avails for no less than the world, and of which the whole world may have the benefit.” (p. 144f).
