Devil - Alive and Well on Planet Earth!

It is quite amazing that many within the churches to day no longer believe in the existence and activity of the devil, despite the clear teaching of Scripture.  It is unbelievable that intelligent Christian people can observe what is going on in the world around them, and not be convinced of the activity of the evil one.  Even when they look at their own lives and experience, not to see the fingerprints of satan is an admission of spiritual blindness.

The fact remains that as Christian people, we are living in enemy territory.  Every step we take in life and in our dedication to Christ, is contested by the satan. He does not want us in this world, living our lives to the glory of God.  So he attacks us with sometimes merciless onslaughts.

But why does he do that?  Because he is God's dedicated adversary, and therefore hates Christ and His people.  We could say that every attack he launches against us are essentially the dying flings of a defeated foe!  he is clever, but he's not that clever, why?  Because of at least two stubborn facts: First, he is in reality a defeated enemy but does not realise it or want to admit it; and second, he knows his time is short. He can see the eternal punishment that is awaiting him and all his servants.  He knows he's finished, but can't face up to it, so he acts as if he will be around forever and that he will not come to an end.  It is God that he hates and opposes more so than us.  He tries to get at God by getting at us!  He can get at us, but he cannot get at God, who is enthroned in heaven.

At the end of the day, we are nothing in the devil's sight, nothing at all.  His one consuming passion and desire and ambition is to destroy the work of God in the world.  Will he succeed?  Will a defeated enemy succeed in dethroning the Lord God Almighty?  Never!  And that's our confidence!
